Many people think that choosing a cycling bicycle is simple. They have it in their minds that the only thing you need to do is choose the bike that looks the best and is a comfortable physical fit. Wrong, there is more to it these days than simply looks and comfort. Cycling is increasing in popularity each day, be it for fun or as a serious mode of transport, there are now more bikes to choose from than ever before. Some people are choosing to cycle as a means of transportation on a regular basis. There are also plenty of families that cycle as a hobby. One way to choose the bike that fits you is to sit on the bike and see if your feet will rest flat on the floor, in case you need to stop yourself. There are certain professionals, though, who disagree with this concept. They say that it is better to give yourself a few inches between your feet and the ground to create a more comfortable cycling experience. Never leave out the safety gear, either. Bicycle helmets have come a long way since they were first introduced. Not only do they look a little better now, they are also safer for you. It is important that you never ride your bicycle without also wearing your helmet. This little thing can mean the difference between life and death.

You might also consider investing in elbow, knee, wrist and ankle guards—especially if you are going to be going “off road” on your bicycle. If you are going to be using your bicycle as your sole means of transportation, you should think of investing in some pants clips as well. Pants clips are designed to hold your pants in place so they don't get caught up in the chain or the gears of the bike.
